My siblings and I were introduced to Eagle County by my uncle, one of the earliest investors in Pete Seibert’s vision. My high school and college summers were spent working on his small guest ranch in Red Wing, Huerfano County. After graduate school, I worked in Vail for one winter before getting a “real job” as a business consultant to American machinery manufacturers wanting to export to China.  Dividing my time between the US and China, I always found time for extended visits with my brother and sister in the Matterhorn neighborhood in West Vail. In 1990, I moved here permanently, met my husband David, and raised a family. Our sons, Will and Ben, couldn’t get back here fast enough after finishing college. Nowhere else could beat the Eagle County lifestyle they had grown up with, where friends are family and ice time, a few ski runs or laps on the Eagle River could be squeezed into almost any work or school day. They are working locally in property management and hospitality.

Being self-employed gave me the flexibility to earn a living through various business ventures and still have time to volunteer for our schools and community. In December 2022, I finished eight years on the Avon Town Council, the last four as Mayor. Now I’m helping implement the Town of Avon’s sustainability initiatives, teaching English as a Second Language at CMC, and serving on the Board of the Eagle River Water and Sanitation District. I’m always on the lookout for time with friends and tennis buddies, hikes with our dogs, and the perfect ski day.
